Joint Press Release – Mystic Irish Parade Security Update and Traffic Advisory

Temporary No Parking Order for Sunday, March 22, 2026

  • Effective: 4:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    No parking will be permitted along the parade route and designated areas. Vehicles parked in violation are subject to ticketing and towing.

Road Closures

  • Effective: 12:30 PM until approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the parade

Affected Roadways:

  • Route 27 (Coogan Boulevard to School Street)
  • Willow Street (Route 27 to Broadway Avenue)
  • Broadway Avenue (Willow Street to East Main Street)
  • East Main Street (Broadway Avenue to the Drawbridge)
  • West Main Street (Drawbridge to High Street)
  • Water Street (West Main Street to New London Road)
  • Pearl Street (West Main Street to Clift Street)
  • Gravel Street (West Main Street to Clift Street)
  • School Street
  • Brown Street
  • High Street (New London Road to West Main Street)
  • New London Road (West Main Street to High Street)
  • Clift Street (west of Pearl Street)
  • Edgecomb Street (portion west of Burrows Street)
  • Library Street (West Main Street to Allyn Street)
  • Orchard Lane
  • Rowland Street

Public Safety Reminder

As part of routine event planning, regional law enforcement agencies continually review any information that could impact public safety.  The Stonington Police Department and Groton Police Department are aware of information that recently circulated on social media concerning this event.  

There is no known credible threat to the event, and the parade will proceed as scheduled.   

As is standard for large public gatherings, there will be a visible police presence and coordinated public safety measures with enhanced security. 

The safety of our community and all event attendees remains our top priority. As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. In the event of an emergency, please dial 911.

The Stonington and Groton Police Departments, in coordination with the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation, remind attendees that this is a family-oriented event.

  • Consumption of alcohol in public areas is prohibited.
  • Disorderly behavior will not be tolerated.

We ask for your cooperation in helping to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants and spectators.
